Ian Westbrook - Scenic Designer
Ian trained at Nottingham Trent University in Creative Arts and Theatre Design. His first of many productions for the Lord Delfont Group was with the Lenny Henry, Cannon & Ball Shows. After seasons at Nottingham Playhouse, Leicester and Theatre Royal Plymouth, Ian became Set Designer/ Scenic Artist with the Theatre Royal Norwich and Cromer Pavilion Theatre’s famous Seaside Special summer shows.
Since 1985, Ian has run his own scenery and prop construction company 3D Creations in Norfolk with his team of skilled artists and craftsmen. His theatre work now totals over four hundred and fifty operas, musicals, plays and events that include creating special effects on Blythe Spirit at London’s Savoy Theatre for Sir Peter Hall’s Company, Michael Flatley’s “Feet of Flames” world tour. Designs for “Evita” and “Chicago” at the Amphitheatre in Lebanon. Special fire effects for Chichester Festival and Birmingham Stage Company. The Broadway musical “See Saw” by Cy Colman & Dorothy Fields. Scenery and props for the American illusionist David Blaine, Rock and Pop music Arenas (5 world tours) for Iron Maiden, Robbie Williams, Pete Waterman, West Life, Blur, The Spice Girls, Peter Gabriel, and Thomas the Tank Engine. Disney(TV)Corporation. The Sony Media, and five Royal commissions for HM. Queen Elizabeth II at the Sandringham Museum. Ian created the sets for the UK tours & London’s West End productions of “Proof”, “The Horrible Histories” and “Treasure Island” for Birmingham Stage Co. Ian’s stage designs are exhibited at The Victoria & Albert Museum in London. His work even takes his team off to the Caribbean island of St. Thomas creating shipwrecks and town-scapes for Pirate’s in the Caribbean. He has created the sets for “All the Fun of the Fair” by Jon Conway, starring David Essex. (UK tour). Ian designed and created last years pantomime scenery “Peter Pan” at Bradford and is very pleased to be designing this new Cinderella for Qdos Productions at Alhambra Theatre.
